Classes are taught by experienced, lifeguard-certified swimmers. You don’t need to be a member of Sunnybrook Swim Club to sign-up for our Learn-to-Swim sessions, however there is a significant discount offered to our active membership.  All classes are held in the upper pool. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the class. Please use the descriptions below to properly place your child. Note that the class will be adapted to the needs of individual swimmers. The ages ranges given are approximate.

Swim Lessons – Level I (Starfish)
Potty trained to age 5

The goal of this class is to facilitate the process of swimming without a parent. Starfish will learn to enter and exit the water safely, put their face in the water, move in a stretched position using aids, equipment or support, and move a distance of approximately 5 meters in any direction on their own.

July 24-28, 9:30am–10:00am

July 31st-August 4th will be used as a make-up week for students who missed a day or two during the week they registered for due to poor weather conditions or illness.

Swim Lessons – Level II (Duckies)
Ages 3 – 6

This class introduces freestyle swimming arm and leg movements, elementary backstroke, and begins to build endurance. Duckies will work towards being able to swim 10 meters on their front and back and collect objects from the bottom of the pool.

Swim Lessons – Level III (Sunfish)
Ages 5 – 7

This class focuses on the coordination of arm and leg movements and developing proper body position while swimming. Sunfish work towards swimming freestyle with side breathing, and practice backstroke arm movements and kicking.
