LIFEGUARDS
Job Requirements –
Each employed Lifeguard must hold the following Red Cross Certifications and provide a copy to be held in Sunnybrook Swim Club’s records. Lifeguards must provide these certifications to the manager prior to their first day of scheduled work, as well as carry a copy on their person when working.
- Lifeguard Certification
- CPR / AED Certification
- Completed NJ Working Papers (if applicable)
Job Responsibilities –
Lifeguard’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all patrons (Members and Guests) of Sunnybrook are safe at all times. They will enforce the Policies and Rules that have been established for the club.
In addition to pool safety, guards have additional responsibilities throughout the shift. Lifeguards may be required to complete the following tasks on a given day at work and will be required to do so as deemed fit by the manager on duty.
Those responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Cleaning of the bathrooms (Both Men’s and Women’s)
-Walking the grounds to ensure all trash is thrown away, and all equipment is returned to the Front Gate Office.
-Enforcing rules when broken by members or guests
-Maintenance of Pools (Upper, Lower, Baby)
-Skimming of the pools
-Cleaning out of skimmers for the pools
-Scrub & Vacuum
-Trash Pick Up and Removal to Dumpster
-Cleaning of Community Areas
-Providing first aid care to the members and guests of Sunnybrook
-Observing/Grading swim test to the members and/or guests of Sunnybrook
MAKO GRILL EMPLOYMENT
COOK
Snack Bar Cook Qualifications:
- Valid NJ drivers license and car preferred, but not required
- Able to work standing up 8+ hrs a day and ability to lift 40 lbs
- Current or graduating high schooler or college student
- ServeSafe certification preferred, but not required
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operation (deep fryer and flat-top) and food prep either through past experience or culinary school training is preferred. (But if you don’t have it, don’t worry – we want someone that loves cooking and wants to learn – we’ll train you to use the equipment safely and properly!)
Snack Bar Cook Responsibilities:
- Sets standard of conduct for the kitchen
- Treats all employees with fairness and respect in a professional manner
- Adheres to the Sunnybrook food preparation standards and methods
- Enforces safe food handling procedures and shares knowledge with peers
- Performs opening and closing procedures to keep a sanitary kitchen
- Monitors refrigeration and storage for food safety compliance
- Maintains all kitchen equipment, reports any defects or issues immediately to the club manager
- Maintains a safe, clean working environment
FRONT GATE EMPLOYMENT
FRONT GATE ATTENDANT
Front Gate Attendant Qualifications
- High School student, able to obtain working papers if needed
- Strong math and computer skills
- Strong people skills (outgoing, personable, friendly, good with kids and adults)
- Able to work between 10-20 hours per week 11:30 am-8 pm
- Must be available to work two out of the following holidays:
- Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July, Tri-county Weekend, Labor Day Weekend
- Must be able to attend staff meetings and training programs/communicate with Manager if unable to do so
Front Gate Attendant Responsibilities

Greet all members with a smile and positive attitude

Record member check-ins using MemberSplash system and the laptop provided at the front gate

Possess a competent understanding of specific club policies in an effort that directly relate to front gate staff member interactions & job expectations

Collect cash Payment for guest passes, birthday parties and membership dues and record transactions within the member management system

Direct members to snackbar for electronic payments/coordinate with snackbar staff to ensure payment is completed

Be knowledgeable regarding Sunnybrook’s general operations to be able to communicate to members

Opening Hours, Wifi Password, Events that are Occuring, Manager on Duty, Swim Meets, Early Closings, swim band testing instructions

Utilize provided Walkie Talkie system when needed

Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and all funds are accounted for immediately following transaction

Monitor First Aid Supply Box and report supplies needed to manager in a timely manner

Maintain books, games, & equipment available in the gatehouse for membership use

Facilitate the use of the Equipment Log Book to ensure items are returned by members after use

ASSISTANT POOL MANAGER EMPLOYMENT
Sunnybrook Swim Club Pool Assistant Manager
Job Description Overview: Under the direction of the Pool Manager, the Assistant Pool Manager will assist with all day-to-day operations of the swim club and with the management of staff and membership. The assistant manager may also assist with the organization of special events and activities held at the club. The assistant manager may also complete various routine clerical and administrative tasks, all while ensuring timely and effective communication with the Pool Manager. The assistant manager shall exercise good professional judgement in accordance with the bylaws and pool rules when dealing with all members and employees. The position shall serve as a role model for all guards in all aspects of dealing with the membership. All member or staff issues should be addressed by assistant manager when on duty and escalated to the pool manager if necessary.
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s license
- CPR trained Lifeguard
- At least 19 years of age and have an HS diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of active lifeguard experience
- Ability to independently complete pool chemical and safety checks.
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Able to work weekends/holidays/evening hours
Responsibilities: Pool/Member Safety
- Respectfully and patiently enforce Sunnybrook Swim Club rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors, and employees.
- Model safe work habits and contribute to the safety of self, Sunnybrook Swim Club staff, members and guests.
- Ensure lifeguards/front gate staff are adhering to all job responsibilities.
Environment
- Enforce the established safety and cleanliness routine by conducting daily inspections of all bath houses, front and rear patios, pools, slides, pool aprons, courts, playgrounds and playground equipment. All inspections and cleanings to be logged.
- Monitor and report the need for replenishment of all required janitorial supplies including cleaners, trash bags, paper goods, mops, brooms, etc needed to ensure the cleanliness of the bathhouses and convenience of the membership.
- Ensure the guards properly load and close the dumpsters nightly and that the gates are always securely closed.
- Monitor and report needed repairs of the buildings, grounds and equipment as needed to maintain a safe, family-friendly environment for the membership.
- Help organize guards and/or volunteers during preparation for opening and closing of the club.
Pools
- Assist in maintaining all pool chemical balance within state and county guidelines at all times. • Assist in maintaining a logbook for all pool water tests. Book must be clearly filled out with date, time signature for complete traceability.
- Inspect and maintain all the pool cleaning equipment; poles, nets, extensions so they are in good working condition. Repair or report needed replacement to manager.
- Ensure each pool has its own complement of cleaning equipment and that the equipment is stored properly to avoid damage and not be a nuisance to members.
- Maintain the portable filter cart in good working order, storing it out of member view and covered when not in use.
- Adhere to a regular schedule for cleaning all pools.
- Inspect and report when damaged or needed all pool ladders, stands and railings immediately.
- Participate in the preparation of the pools pre and post season. After opening, assist the manager in readying the pools for members. Prior to closing, assist manager in taking the necessary steps to winterize the pool
- Any other duties as assigned by the manager
