LIFEGUARDS
Job Requirements –
Each employed Lifeguard must hold the following Red Cross Certifications and provide a copy to be held in Sunnybrook Swim Club’s records. Lifeguards must provide these certifications to the manager prior to their first day of scheduled work, as well as carry a copy on their person when working.
- Lifeguard Certification
- CPR / AED Certification
- Completed NJ Working Papers (if applicable)
Job Responsibilities –
Lifeguard’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all patrons (Members and Guests) of Sunnybrook are safe at all times. They will enforce the Policies and Rules that have been established for the club.
In addition to pool safety, guards have additional responsibilities throughout the shift. Lifeguards may be required to complete the following tasks on a given day at work and will be required to do so as deemed fit by the manager on duty.
Those responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Cleaning of the bathrooms (Both Men’s and Women’s)
-Walking the grounds to ensure all trash is thrown away, and all equipment is returned to the Front Gate Office.
-Enforcing rules when broken by members or guests
-Maintenance of Pools (Upper, Lower, Baby)
-Skimming of the pools
-Cleaning out of skimmers for the pools
-Scrub & Vacuum
-Trash Pick Up and Removal to Dumpster
-Cleaning of Community Areas
-Providing first aid care to the members and guests of Sunnybrook
-Observing/Grading swim test to the members and/or guests of Sunnybrook
MAKO GRILL EMPLOYMENT
COOK
Snack Bar Cook Qualifications:
- Valid NJ drivers license and car preferred, but not required
- Able to work standing up 8+ hrs a day and ability to lift 40 lbs
- Current or graduating high schooler or college student
- ServeSafe certification preferred, but not required
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operation (deep fryer and flat-top) and food prep either through past experience or culinary school training is preferred. (But if you don’t have it, don’t worry – we want someone that loves cooking and wants to learn – we’ll train you to use the equipment safely and properly!)
Snack Bar Cook Responsibilities:
- Sets standard of conduct for the kitchen
- Treats all employees with fairness and respect in a professional manner
- Adheres to the Sunnybrook food preparation standards and methods
- Enforces safe food handling procedures and shares knowledge with peers
- Performs opening and closing procedures to keep a sanitary kitchen
- Monitors refrigeration and storage for food safety compliance
- Maintains all kitchen equipment, reports any defects or issues immediately to the club manager
- Maintains a safe, clean working environment
MAKO GRILL EMPLOYMENT
CASHIER
Snack Bar Cashier Qualifications
- High School student, able to obtain working papers if needed
- Strong math and computer skills preferred
- Strong people skills (outgoing, personable, friendly, good with kids and adults)
- Previous sales or kitchen experience a plus, but not required
- Able to work between 10-20 hours per week 11 am-8 pm
- Able to lift 10-20 lbs. and work standing up for more than 4 hours at a time
- Available to work during home swim meets Saturdays starting at 7:30 am
Snack Bar Cashier Responsibilities
- Greet all members with a smile and positive attitude
- Fulfill membership food orders
- Deliver food as necessary to members during busy periods with long waits
- Record all member orders using the POS system and collect payment
- Ensure kitchen orders are correct prior to delivery
- Maintain neat, orderly and clean counter at all times
- Prepare non-cooked orders including but not limited to; smoothies, water ice, hot dogs, nachos and more.
- Assist cook during busy periods by prepping items to cook and finish assembly of cooked orders
- Ensure all transactions, sales or voids are properly recorded and all funds are accounted for immediately following transaction
- Maintain a respectful environment and tone at all times
- Make recommendations for new products or cooked items
- Follow all proper food handling policies established by the manager and the club
- Report all food handling concerns to the pool manager or a board member immediately
- Must assist with opening and/or closing each day – this includes a 30 minute set-up before opening and 1 hour clean-up of the front end and kitchen area as needed at end of day
FRONT GATE EMPLOYMENT
FRONT GATE ATTENDANT
Front Gate Attendant Qualifications
- High School student, able to obtain working papers if needed
- Strong math and computer skills
- Strong people skills (outgoing, personable, friendly, good with kids and adults)
- Able to work between 10-20 hours per week 11:30 am-8 pm
- Must be available to work two out of the following holidays:
- Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July, Tri-county Weekend, Labor Day Weekend
- Must be able to attend staff meetings and training programs/communicate with Manager if unable to do so
Front Gate Attendant Responsibilities

Greet all members with a smile and positive attitude

Record member check-ins using MemberSplash system and the laptop provided at the front gate

Possess a competent understanding of specific club policies in an effort that directly relate to front gate staff member interactions & job expectations

i.e., Swim Band Requirements, Minor Waiver Forms, Rule Enforcement Plan, Guest Pass Policy, Sports Equipment Log

Collect cash Payment for guest passes, birthday parties and membership dues and record transactions within the member management system

Direct members to snackbar for electronic payments/coordinate with snackbar staff to ensure payment is completed

Be knowledgeable regarding Sunnybrook’s general operations to be able to communicate to members

Opening Hours, Wifi Password, Events that are Occuring, Manager on Duty, Swim Meets, Early Closings, swim band testing instructions

Utilize provided Walkie Talkie system when needed
-
Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and all funds are accounted for immediately following transaction

Monitor First Aid Supply Box and report supplies needed to manager in a timely manner

Maintain books, games, & equipment available in the gatehouse for membership use

Facilitate the use of the Equipment Log Book to ensure items are returned by members after use

Report any damaged items to management for replacement

Manage an orderly check-in process for birthday parties and group events
-
Maintain neat, orderly and clean work space at all times

Maintain a respectful environment and tone at all times

Support the enforcement of Club Rules by notifying lifeguards and/or manager when broken rules are observed/encountered
